PENEROKAAN GAYA KEPIMPINAN TRANSFORMASIONAL AHLI PARLIMEN BELIA MALAYSIA MENERUSI DOMAIN PENGARUH IDEAL

The Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBM) is a comprehensive leadership development platform that provides opportunities for youth leaders to strengthen their leadership and thinking skills through practical experiences. However, the Malaysia Youth Index (IBM) 2022 and 2023 indicates that the preparedness of youth as future leaders remains low, raising concerns about the nation's leadership prospects. Therefore, this study aims to explore transformational leadership styles among PBM members, with a specific focus on the domain of idealised influence.A total of 13 informants were purposively selected based on two criteria: (i) Holding the position of Chairperson or Secretary of a PBM committee and (ii) being elected through the online PBM selection process.Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed using Atlas.tisoftware through a thematic analysis approach. The analysis revealed five main themes within the domain of idealised influence: Role modelling, clear goal orientation, risk-taking, relationship-building, and religious appreciation. The findings suggest that religious appreciation is a new and emerging trait enriching the idealised influence domain, reflecting the continued attachment of Malaysian youth leaders to religious values in their leadership practice.
