O IMPACTO DA ARTRITE NA VIDA ATLÉTICA DOS EQUINOS: REVISÃO LITERATURA
ABSTRACT Arthritis in horses is an inflammatory joint condition that compromises athletic performance, health, and quality of life. Its main forms include septic, rheumatoid, suppurative, and infectious arthritis, all related to inflammatory processes that can progress to severe lameness and joint degeneration. Diagnosis is based on clinical evaluation, physical examination, and synovial fluid analysis, with treatment being prolonged and variable depending on the type of arthritis. Failure to provide appropriate intervention can lead to irreversible complications, affecting athletic performance and causing economic losses to the owner. It is concluded that early and continuous veterinary monitoring is essential to preserve the well-being and athletic longevity of horses. Keywords: arthritis, horses, lameness, sports medicine, animal health.
