EXODONTIA DE DENTE NEO NATAL: RELATO DE CASO NA FACULDADE METROPOLITANA DE RONDÔNIA

ABSTRACT The present study aims to report and discuss a clinical case of neonatal tooth extraction in a newborn treated at a university dental clinic. Although the early eruption of teeth is a rare condition, it can lead to significant clinical implications such as maternal pain, breast inflammation, breastfeeding difficulties, and aspiration risk. In this case, the primary complaint came from the infant’s mother, who reported intense pain during breastfeeding due to the friction of the tooth against her breasts. After clinical evaluation and a detailed anamnesis, the decision was made to extract the neonatal tooth under local anesthesia. The procedure was performed safely, and the postoperative period showed satisfactory progress, with rapid healing and no complications. The surgical intervention resulted in significant improvement in breastfeeding and in the quality of sleep for both the baby and the mother. This case highlights the importance of active listening to the family, ethical conduct, and a human
