Modern treatment tactics of the «terrible triad» of the elbow joint
Annotation. The aim of our study was to introduce modern treatment tactics for surgical treatment of the «terrible triad» of the elbow joint and to determine the results of treatment in patients of this category. Our study involved 45 patients with the «terrible triad» of the elbow joint, which developed as a result of acute fracture-dislocations as a result of traumatic injuries, of which 24 patients, who made up the first group, were treated with staged surgical treatment, and 21 patients, who made up the second group, were treated with conventional surgical treatment. Treatment of patients in the observational cohort took place on the basis of the State Institution «Ukrainian State Research Institute of Medical and Social Problems of Disability of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» in the period from 2022 to 2025. There is a difference in results between the observation groups. Thus, in both observation groups, patients with a good treatment result ranked first, but in the first group there were 13.7% more of them. A similar trend was observed among patients with an excellent result, who prevailed in the first group compared to the second group. The difference among patients with a satisfactory treatment result was especially significant. If in the first group there were 8.4% of patients with a similar treatment result, then in the second group – 23.8%. The difference between the groups was more than 2.8 times. An unsatisfactory result was not detected in the first group, and in the second group – it was detected in 4.8% of cases. So the study confirmed good and excellent results of surgical treatment of patients with the «terrible triad» of the elbow joint. When performing the proposed algorithm of surgical intervention, excellent and good results according to the MEPS scale were detected in 91.6% of patients.
