Sonographic dimensions of the uterus in different phases of the menstrual cycle in Ukrainian girls with genital endometriosis without and with regard to somatotype

Annotation. The prevalence of endometriosis among adolescents is increasing, which requires improving approaches to its early diagnosis. Individual anthropometric characteristics can affect the parameters of the reproductive system, which should be taken into account during ultrasound examination. The aim of the study is to determine the features of the sonographic dimensions of the uterus in the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle in Ukrainian girls with genital endometriosis without and taking into account the somatotype. In 89 Ukrainian girls with genital endometriosis, the sonographic dimensions of the uterus in the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle without and taking into account the somatotype were determined using the Heath-Carter method. The control was the initial sonographic dimensions of the uterus of 78 practically healthy Ukrainian girls of the same age. Statistical processing of the obtained results was carried out in the licensed package «Statistica 6.0» using non-parametric evaluation methods. It was found that in Ukrainian girls with genital endometriosis, regardless of somatotype, representatives of mesomorphic, ectomorphic and ecto-mesomorphic somatotypes, the length of the uterine body and the thickness of the endometrium in the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle are significantly smaller (most pronounced in ecto-mesomorphs) than the corresponding sonographic dimensions of the uterus in practically healthy Ukrainian girls of similar groups; the length of the uterine body, the width of the uterus and the thickness of the endometrium in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle in girls without taking into account somatotype, representatives of mesomorphic, ectomorphic and ecto-mesomorphs are significantly smaller (except for the thickness of the endometrium, most pronounced in ecto-mesomorphs), and the anterior-posterior size of the uterus is significantly larger (most pronounced in ectomorphs) than the corresponding sonographic dimensions of the uterus in practically healthy Ukrainian girls of similar groups. No significant differences or trends were found between girls with genital endometriosis of different somatotypes when comparing sonographic dimensions of the uterus in the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle.
