Generation Construction Planning Considering Renewable Energy Sources
In this paper, we explore generation expansion planning considering the uncertainty from renewable energy sources and loads. For load uncertainty, we use typical scenarios to capture. The uncertainty for renewable energy is described by a set of probability distributions with the moment information. Further, we consider hydroelectric generators with energy storage properties to improve the profitability and stability of the system. The resulting model is a distributionally robust chanceconstrained optimisation problem to select the conventional generating unit to be built from a predefined set of options. In order to achieve computational tractability, we first reformulate the two-stage model with a linear decision rule, and then transform the distributionally robust chance constraints into second-order cone constraints, which results in a mixed-integer second-order cone program. Finally, computation experiments demonstrate that the proposed model exhibits better practical performance.
