OTSM vs. OFDM: A BER Comparison using the Vienna 5G Link-Level Simulator
Orthogonal Time Sequency Multiplexing (OTSM) is a new modulation technique, that aims to provide better performance than currently used technologies. According to the original authors, it should offer better performance than Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and similar performance to Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS), while being less computationally expensive. In this paper, the performance of OTSM is compared to OFDM by simulating them using the Vienna 5G Link Level Simulator (LLS). Performance analysis was done by comparing the BER of the two modulation schemes in different scenarios and simulation parameters. The results are shown and differences, such as increased diversity and interference resistance in OTSM, are discussed.
