Theoretical Investigation of Crosstalk Between Two Microstrip Lines in the Presence of a Metal Shield
This paper investigates crosstalk between two microstrip lines (MLs) in the presence of a shield from an electromagnetic perspective for the first time. The impact of an incomplete shield is analyzed through numerical simulations, and the underlying electromagnetic mechanisms are discussed. By using the geometrical theory of diffraction, an approximate expression for predicting crosstalk behavior is derived. This study aims to conceptually elucidate complex crosstalk behaviors that are difficult to model using circuit theory, and successful crosstalk behavior predictions are presented for different crosstalk problem cases.
