Numerology Interference in Networks
The introduction of mixed numerologies in 5th generation (5G) standardization allows lower latency and the operation at higher frequencies. Different numerologies lead to inter-numerology interference (INI) between resources using different subcarrier spacings. The effects of INI on individual links have been studied, but the effects on network performance are not sufficiently analyzed. To bridge this gap, we introduce a system model for INI simulation that aggregates the interference on several subcarriers and precalculates constant INI factors, leading to shorter simulation times. With the developed model, we simulate a network with and without INI. Simulation results show that INI plays a minor role compared to inter base station interference, with average INI power being about 15dB lower than inter base station interference power.
