Multiobjective Power Loss Optimization Control for Modular Multilevel Converters Based on Multiobjective Rime Optimization Algorithm

MMC has gained widely followed and application in large-scale power transmission due to its strengths of high fault tolerance and flexible output voltage adjustment. The service life and operating cost of the MMC largely depend on the maximum power dissipation and gross power dissipation in the submodules (SMs). However, the current literature rarely conducted a multi objective optimization based on the active utilization of multi order circulating currents for the total loss and the highest loss in submodules, thus it is not possible to simultaneously achieve the synergistic optimization of MMC's operating cost and service life. Hence, in this manuscript, a multi-objective power loss optimization control (MO-PLOC) is put forward to actively utilize second and fourth-order harmonic current in the arm of the MMC. The author validated the effectiveness of the raised MO PLOC for the MMC through a series of research results.
