Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles from Labeo rohita Scales: Antibacterial, Antioxidant, Antibiofilm and Synergistic Activities

Nanotechnology is defined as the comprehension and regulation of materials at magnitudes between 1-100 nanometers (nm) where exceptional wonders permit innovative applications. To combat with various diseases different technologies were used, nanotechnology is one of the most promising new emerging fields. The study was conducted to synthesize, characterize and to evaluate the biological activities of silver nanoparticles synthesized from the scales of Labeo rohita (Lr-AgNPs). The synthesis of nanoparticles was done via maceration and boiling methods. The characterization of silver nanoparticles was done by using ultra violet visible spectroscopy (UV) and scaning electron microscopy (SEM). Infrared visible spectroscopy was used to record the AgNPs' maximum absorption spectra at 412 nm. High mass of ovoid-shaped and few spherical AgNPs were visible in the SEM picture of Lr-AgNPs. The results revealed that biogenic synthesized Lr-AgNPs had a significant bactericidal effect against bacterial pathogens (E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia and Proteus mirablis) at all concentrations (0.03, 0.05, 0.09, 0.11 and 0.13), zones of inhibition range from 1±0 at 0.03 to 16.66±2.88 at 0.13 g. Tested bacteria were not able to form biofilms in the presence of Lr-AgNPs. Synthesized nanoparticles also showed maximum radical scavenging action (50) at 100 µL as compared to the extract (29). The synergistic effect Lr-AgNPs was evaluated that showed efficient inhibition range from 25.33±0.57 to 0.33±0.57 mm.

Nanotechnology is defined as the comprehension and regulation of materials at magnitudes between 1-100 nanometers (nm) where exceptional wonders permit innovative applications. To combat with various diseases different technologies were used, nanotechnology is one of the most promising new emerging fields.
