Editorial for special issue on fertilizer input and nutrient control in crop production and quality improvement
Fertilizer, as the primary source of nutrients for crops, has long been a research hotspot in agricultural production, focusing on enhancing crop yield and quality as well as environmental sustainability by regulating nutrient supply. The special issue Fertilizer Input and Nutrient Control in Crop Production and Quality Improvement brings 18 research papers, exploring how to enhance crop productivity and quality through innovative fertilizers and fertilizing products, better nutrient management, and innovative technologies. The content of the special issue includes exploration of innovative solutions from the laboratory to the field, single technology to cross-disciplinary technologies, and from isolated efforts to regional and globally relevant solutions. This article summarizes the key findings in the following areas: traditional fertilizer input optimization, precise nutrient control in protected environment agriculture, application of biostimulants and nano-fertilizers, and nutrient management in adverse conditions.
