Strategic autonomy in global women's health research: necessity not luxury
In the pursuit of equitable global health, the imperative of strategic autonomy (the capacity of a country or consortium comprising of multiple countries to act independently and make critical decisions) in women's health research is increasingly important. Strategic autonomy enables impactful research agendas, locally-informed funding of multifaceted work streams to improve the efficiency and the operational delivery of research, and fit-for-purpose governance structures that centre the voices, priorities, and contexts of women.
