Research on the optimization of student participation based on reinforcement learning and NLP algorithm

In recent years, the mental health issues of adolescents have received increasing attention from all sectors of society. Traditional psychological counseling methods have certain limitations in increasing student participation, while emerging artificial intelligence technologies and gamification elements have brought new possibilities for psychological counseling. This study aims to explore a gamified psychological counseling model based on reinforcement learning and natural language processing algorithms to enhance students’ participation and promote their mental health development. This study constructs a psychological counseling platform that integrates reinforcement learning and NLP algorithms, utilizing personalized interaction and real-time feedback mechanisms to dynamically adjust counseling content and enhance students’ willingness to participate. Through a 3-month experiment on 1000 middle school students, the results showed that the participation rate of the experimental group using gamified tutoring increased by 35% compared to the traditional tutoring group, and the improvement rate of psychological health indicators reached 22%. In addition, the sentiment analysis module based on NLP algorithm can effectively predict students’ emotional changes, with an accuracy rate of 89.6% in recognizing emotional reactions during the tutoring process. This accuracy is comparable to or slightly better than other common sentiment analysis methods. For instance, traditional models such as support vector machines (SVMs) achieve accuracies ranging from 80% to 85%, while deep learning-based models, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neural networks (RNNs), typically report accuracies between 85% and 90% in similar tasks. Therefore, the 89.6% accuracy of our NLP model demonstrates its competitive performance in the domain of emotional recognition, reinforcing the effectiveness of our approach. The gamified psychological counseling model based on reinforcement learning and NLP algorithms has significant advantages in enhancing students’ participation in psychological counseling and provides new directions for the development of future psychological counseling technologies.
