Biotopverbund für die Knautien-Sandbiene (Andrena hattorfiana) – Entwicklung artenreicher Salbei-Glatthaferwiesen im Endmoränengebiet des Inn-Gletschers
Habitat Network for the Large Scabious Mining Bee (Andrena hattorfiana): Development of tall oat-grass meadows in the Terminal Moraine Area of the former Inn Glacier // The project "Habitat Network for the Large Scabious Mining Bee" in the northern district of Rosenheim promotes the development of species-rich tall oat-grass meadows (Salvia-Arrhenatherum) on nutrient-poor steep slopes to support the rare Large Scabious Mining Bee (Andrena hattorfiana). The primary threat to these specialized habitats arises from land abandonment or insufficient land use. By analyzing a digital terrain model, potential habitat areas were identified, and land availability was subsequently assessed. Within the scope of the project, the establishment of a functional habitat network comprising 68 individual sites (totaling 39.5 hectares) was achieved through the facilitation of agri-environmental schemes and targeted management measures. Land availability and stakeholder acceptance were exceptionally high (74 %); however, the project was constrained by reduced funding and a shortage of landscape management personnel. This project represents a significant contribution to the local habitat connectivity and aligns with both national and European conservation objectives for the maintenance and restoration of lowland hay meadows (Habitat Type 6510 under the EU Habitats Directive).
