Animal-Aided Design im Wohnungsbau: Erfahrungen bei der Umsetzung
Animal-Aided Design in residential construction: experiences with implementation // The non-profit housing association Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Ingolstadt has implemented a pilot project based on Animal-Aided Design (AAD). Target species such as house sparrows, hedgehogs, red admirals, and bats are to be supported through structural measures like facade nesting aids and the tailored design of outdoor areas. Experience has shown that close collaboration between architects, specialist planners, and nature conservation experts is essential for selecting appropriate structures and overcoming technical challenges. Integrating animal-friendly habitats into construction projects can be achieved with only minimal additional costs (approximately 0.06 % of construction costs) and can make an effective contribution to promoting urban biodiversity.
