Abstract

Work organisational measures and strategies for dealing with heat waves in acute care: A scenario workshop Heatwaves increasingly burden nursing staff in acute care settings and demand targeted organizational adjustments within hospitals. In a trans- and interdisciplinary workshop, practical strategies for heat adaptation were co-developed with hospital staff. Key outcomes highlight the importance of strategic integration at the leadership level, clear assignment of responsibilities, development of a comprehensive heat action plan, and improved internal communication and training. Holistic and participatory approaches can support the development of effective solutions to relieve professional nursing staff and ensure sustainable quality of care during extreme heat events.
