Multi Band Patch Antenna with Complicated Structure

This paper presents the results of numerical simulation of a complex-composition patch antenna with a complex form factor. The antenna design is a combination of three ring resonators with slot gaps, interconnected by distributed electromagnetic coupling. One of the resonators is galvanically connected to the earth ground by means of a shorting vias. The antenna is fed using a section of shielded coplanar line having a galvanic contact with one of the resonators. For numerical simulation, a comprehensive approach has been used, which included the semi-open resonator method, the finite element method (FEM) and the quasi-static method for calculating the parameters of the feeding elements. The FEM is implemented within the commercial software ANSYS HFSS. The results of simulation the spectrum of eigen oscillations, the structure of currents on the antenna elements, the pattern characteristics, the dependence of the gain, ellipticity coefficient are presented.
