An Asymptotic Solution to the Acoustic Wave Scattering Problem for a Set of Small Particles: The Irregular Distribution Case

This study explores an analytical-numerical approach to the problem of acoustic wave scattering by multiple small particles, assuming that the distance between them exceeds their radius. We allow for variations in the distances between particles, which can be prescribed in different ways. Impedance boundary conditions are given on the particle surfaces. Numerical simulations reveal that the radiation characteristics of the constructed inhomogeneous domain are sensitive to the distribution of the particles. These findings pave the way for designing materials with required properties, including refraction coefficients.

Abstract

This study explores an analytical-numerical approach to the problem of acoustic wave scattering by multiple small particles, assuming that the distance between them exceeds their radius. We allow for variations in the distances between particles, which can be prescribed in different ways. Impedance boundary conditions are given on the particle surfaces. Numerical simulations reveal that the radiation characteristics of the constructed inhomogeneous domain are sensitive to the distribution of the particles. These findings pave the way for designing materials with required properties, including refraction coefficients.
