Performance Evaluation of a Quadruple Four-Switch Converter with Single-Carrier Three-Mode Modulation

This paper proposes a quadruple four-switch DC-DC converter with a quadruple-redundant structure, capable of operating in Buck, Boost, and Buck-Boost modes, making it suitable for high-reliability applications. A simulation model was developed using MATLAB/Simulink to analyze the converter's steady-state performance, dynamic response, and fault tolerance under these three modes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed topology achieves efficiencies exceeding 90% under typical operating conditions, with mode-switching transitions completed in less than 1 ms. Compared to conventional dual-switch topologies, this design exhibits significant improvements in efficiency, redundancy, and operational flexibility, rendering it highly suitable for systems demanding high reliability and multi-mode operation, such as renewable energy generation and electric vehicles.
