Research on Residential Flexible Loads Participating in Demand Response

With the popularization of air conditioners and electric vehicles, as typical flexible loads, their unordered usage poses challenges to the stable operation of power grids. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the power consumption curves of air conditioners and the charging power curves of electric vehicles through Monte Carlo simulation. It constructs load characteristic models for both by superimposing these curves respectively, and uses them to verify the negative impacts caused by the unordered usage of air conditioner loads and electric vehicle loads, thereby providing a basis for the optimal scheduling of demand response.

Abstract

With the popularization of air conditioners and electric vehicles, as typical flexible loads, their unordered usage poses challenges to the stable operation of power grids. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the power consumption curves of air conditioners and the charging power curves of electric vehicles through Monte Carlo simulation. It constructs load characteristic models for both by superimposing these curves respectively, and uses them to verify the negative impacts caused by the unordered usage of air conditioner loads and electric vehicle loads, thereby providing a basis for the optimal scheduling of demand response.
