Mathematical Model of the Atmosphere for Attenuated Sound Wave Propagation
The research paper presents a comprehensive mathematical model for simulating the dynamic atmospheric conditions and compute key acoustic parameters these control the propagation of sound. The model employs calculations of atmospheric parameters (humidity, pressure, temperature, wind speed) at the specified altitude, air density, still air speed of sound, effective speed of sound, molecular sound absorption coefficient, turbulent and total attenuation coefficients. The model features simplified ray tracing visualization, which graphically illustrates how sound waves refract (bend) as they travel through a non-uniform atmosphere. This model serves as a foundational component for explaining acoustic phenomena in the lower atmosphere, especially relevant for applications such as acoustic localization, noise prediction, and environmental sound monitoring.
