Research on System Capacity Optimization and Scheduling Operation of Large-scale Green Hydrogen Production based on New Energy
Electrolytic hydrogen production is one of the key pathways for the local consumption of new energy, enabling the conversion of unstable renewable power into hydrogen energy. The variability of renewable energy generation poses significant challenges to the operation of electrolysis systems, necessitating research on capacity optimization and operational scheduling for large-scale electrolysis systems. This study proposes a large-scale hybrid electrolysis system that combines alkaline electrolyzers (AEL) and proton exchange membrane electrolyzers (PEMEL) to balance economic efficiency and system safety, thereby achieving efficient utilization of luctuating renewable energy. The study shows that the introduction of partial PEMEL in large electrolysis system effectively improves the flexible adjustment ability and dynamic response speed of the system, and increases the green hydrogen production. Meanwhile, with the breakthrough of PEMEL key material technology and the decrease of investment cost, its economy and comprehensive competitiveness are significantly improved.
