Study on Selection and Optimization of Capacity Calculation Methods for Emergency Diesel Generator Sets in Spent Fuel Reprocessing Plants

As a safety-class power source, the emergency diesel generator set (DGS) in reprocessing plants is extremely expensive, and the selection of its capacity calculation value directly affects the project investment. Currently, there are various methods for calculating the capacity of DGSs, and differences in their calculation formulas often result in different calculation results. This paper analyzes the similarities among multiple calculation methods and selects three of them. Meanwhile, using the characteristics of emergency loads in reprocessing plants, two load models with different power load proportions are established. In this paper, the same parameters are adopted for calculation, and the calculation results are compared and analyzed to select the most suitable calculation method for the electrical design of reprocessing plants. Furthermore, this paper improves the selected calculation method in combination with the loading procedure, and presents an optimized calculation process that calculates and verifies each loading step and iterates the loading procedure. Finally, verification with the load models proves that this calculation process can effectively reduce the capacity calculation value and enhance economic efficiency.
