Integrated Mobile Platform for Semi-Autonomous Drone Delivery of Food and Beverages with Real-Time Tracking and Face Recognition security
The increasing demand for fast and reliable food and beverage delivery services necessitates innovative solutions to overcome challenges such as traffic congestion, high operational costs, and limited access to remote areas. Semi- autonomous modular drones offer an efficient alternative, providing faster delivery times, reduced costs, and expanded accessibility. A mobile application integrated with a semi- autonomous drone system is developed to support this innovation, enabling users to place orders and track them in real time. This study presents the development of a mobile-based food and beverage delivery system integrated with a semi- autonomous modular drone and real-time tracking. The proposed system features a mobile application that allows users to place orders, monitor deliveries, and authenticate their identity via face recognition to ensure secure handover. A prototyping approach was employed to design and develop the application, with iterative refinement based on user feedback. Usability testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) resulted in a score of 85.63, indicating excellent user satisfaction. The integration of facial recognition and real-time drone tracking demonstrates the system's potential to enhance delivery security, speed, and user experience.
