But as an essential raw material of the production process, the oil with fluctuating prices can have an impact on the country’s economic condition. Previous literature has been done about oil price and income, income, and fertility rates. According to Tim Gu in his research paper “Oil, Population Growth, and the Resource Curse”, an increase in a country’s oil endowment results in an increase in its population growth rate, an increase in its fertility and birth rates. The Petroleum Reserve differentiates across countries, so it can also affect the oil price and income of the countries. The income of countries can further influence the fertility rate of the countries. Richer countries have lower fertility rates than poor ones, and high-income families have fewer kids than low-income ones. (Dan, Natalia, Seth, Lowell, 2013) However, no previous research has shown the relationship between crude oil prices and fertility rates, which is the main focus of my research.

Abstract

This is an accepted article with a DOI pre-assigned that is not yet published. When we discuss factors that can affect the fertility rates, the oil price is not an obvious one. But as an essential raw material of the production process, the oil with fluctuating prices can have an impact on the country’s economic condition.
