The Effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) on Critical Thinking Skills and Understanding of Mathematical Concepts Based on the Education Level of Students' Parents at SDN Tidung, Makassar City
Effective The purpose of the study is to determine the difference in students' critical thinking skills and concept understanding based on parents' education level and the influence of Problem Based Learning on critical thinking skills and concept understanding between parents' education levels. Types of quantitative research with a Quasi Experiment approach. The research population of all grade V students of SDN Tidung Makassar City, which amounted to 16 students. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Instruments test critical thinking ability, concept comprehension test and questionnaire on the level of parental education. Descriptive statistical data analysis techniques and inferential statistics with Manova analysis. (1) The results of the descriptive study show that the level of parental education is in the medium criteria, the average score of the students' critical thinking ability pretest is in the sufficient category and the students' conceptual understanding is in the sufficient category. The average posttest score of students' critical thinking skills is in the good category and students' concept understanding is in the good category. (2) The results of the inferential study show that there is no difference in students' critical thinking skills and concept understanding based on parents' education levels and there is an influence of Problem Based Learning on students' critical thinking skills and concept understanding between parents' education levels.
