RELEVANSI TAFSIR BIL MA' SUR DALAM KONTEKS MODERN: STUDI KASUS TAFSIR AYAT-AYAT SOSIAL DALAM TAFSIR AL-QUR’AN AL-AZIM KARYA IBNU KASIR

This study examines the relevance of the tafsir bil ma’thūr method in interpreting social verses in Tafsir al-Qur’ān al-‘Aẓīm by Ibn Kathīr, particularly within the context of modern society. As one of the exegetical methods that relies on authentic reports from the Qur’an, ḥadīth, and the opinions of the Companions, tafsir bil ma’thūr has the advantage of preserving the originality of the meaning of the verses. This research employs a qualitative approach, which is suitable because it focuses on in-depth analysis and interpretation of exegetical texts. Through qualitative analysis of several social verses interpreted by Ibn Kathīr, this study finds that tafsir bil ma’thūr continues to provide relevant ethical guidance. The research highlights the importance of hermeneutical or contextual approaches as complementary tools to enrich the interpretation of social verses in the Qur’an in today’s era. These findings are expected to encourage the development of a flexible exegetical methodology that remains grounded in the classical tafsir tradition, while also contributing to contextual Islamic studies that are adaptive to the changes of time. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang relavansi metode tafsir bil ma’sūr dalam menafsirkan ayat-ayat sosial pada tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-Azim karya Ibnu Kasir, khususnya dalam konteks sosial modern. Sebagai salah satu metode tafsir yang mengandalkan riwayat sahih dari al-Qur’an, hadis, dan pendapat sahabat, tafsir bil ma’sūr memiliki keunggulan dalam menjaga orisinalitas makna ayat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pendekatan ini cocok karena fokusnya pada analisis mendalam dan interpretasi atas teks tafsir. Melalui analisis kualitatif pada beberapa ayat sosial yang ditafsirkan Ibnu Kasir, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa tafsir bil ma’sūr tetap memberikan panduan etis yang relevan. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya pendekatan hermeneutik atau kontekstual sebagai pelengkap guna memperkaya penafsiran ayat-ayat sosial dalam al-Qur’an di era saat ini. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong pengembangan metodologi tafsir yang fleksibel namun tetap berlandaskan tradisi tafsir klasik, serta memberikan kontribusi bagi studi islam yang kontekstual dan adaptif terhadap perubahan zaman.
