The analysis of ATC staff workload for a selected Flight Information Region

<ns3:p>The article addresses the problem of workload of air traffic control personnel. Based on a literature study, the fatigue effect is described and the cause and potential effects of overload are shown. A mathematical model of mental workload is presented, and based on data from the aircraft parameter recording service and the weather portal, numerical values used in the simulations were selected. Simulations were carried out in the Milano UIR (Italy) airspace for two scenarios - fair weather and a weather impact. The model is supplemented with the concept of suggested support by personnel in the event of overload detection. The results of the work constitute a stage of work on the development of an integral sectoral performance model.</ns3:p>

Abstract

Based on a literature study, the fatigue effect is described and the cause and potential effects of overload are shown. A mathematical model of mental workload is presented, and based on data from the aircraft parameter recording service and the weather portal, numerical values used in the simulations were selected. Simulations were carried out in the Milano UIR (Italy) airspace for two scenarios - fair weather and a weather impact. The model is supplemented with the concept of suggested support by personnel in the event of overload detection. The results of the work constitute a stage of work on the development of an integral sectoral performance model.</ns3:p>
