Pengaruh pemberian pursed lips breathing terhadap frekuensi pernapasan pada pasien penyakit paru obstruktif kronik

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a non-communicable respiratory disease that causes airflow obstruction and dyspnea, leading to increased respiratory rate. This increased respiratory rate can disrupt sleep patterns in COPD patients and can be addressed with relaxation therapy. Pursed lip breathing is a non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to reduce respiratory rate in COPD patients. Purpose: To determine the effect of administering pursed lips breathing on patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with complaints of shortness of breath which results in increased respiratory frequency. Method: This quantitative study used a one-group design (pre- and post-test) and no comparison between the control groups. The study involved 19 patients. The hypothesis test used a paired sample t-test. Result: The Paired Sample T-test shows that the p-value is 0.000 <0.05. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving Pursed lips breathing on respiratory frequency in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. Keywords : COPD; Pursed Lips Breathing; Respiratory Rate.
