Voltage regulating distribution transformer (VRDT) – utility’s solution to optimise the hosting capacity of distribution system for the future energy landscape in Malaysia

This paper will discuss the motivation on application of Voltage Regulating Distribution Transformer (VRDT) in Malaysia’s Distribution Network. In this paper, the author also will deliberate and share the experience during the pilot trial of VRDT conducted in previously. The author will also discuss lessons from the first pilot trial and changes made for the future VRDT. It is expected that the information and experiences discussed in this paper will be a reference to other utilities on this subject.
