Algorithm to estimate hosting capacity in a radial medium-voltage-grid

Increasing electrification and rising levels of distributed generation require quick insights into the grid situation. Here, an approach is proposed to estimate hosting capacity for a mainly radial medium voltage (MV) grid. This estimation has two components, firstly a tracing part starting at all relevant parts of the grid. Secondly, the actual estimation is based on grid impedance and current margin. Verification shows acceptable deviations for an estimation.

Abstract

Increasing electrification and rising levels of distributed generation require quick insights into the grid situation. Here, an approach is proposed to estimate hosting capacity for a mainly radial medium voltage (MV) grid. This estimation has two components, firstly a tracing part starting at all relevant parts of the grid. Secondly, the actual estimation is based on grid impedance and current margin. Verification shows acceptable deviations for an estimation.
