E-REDES smart metering plus solution for real-time access to meter data via virtual HAN interface

The transition to cleaner energy, the increase in distributed generation, the electrification of consumption, the installation of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), energy storage and energy communities have led to a change in the role of the DSO, who has to measure, operate, and control the low-voltage distribution grid in near real-time and be a facilitator of new services developed by himself or by third parties. Smart grids and smart meters have played a key role in this new role of the DSO, as it's believed that the proliferation of smart meters in the low voltage grid will enable the DSO to collect data and operate in near real-time. E-REDES has developed the Smart Metering Plus solution. This solution virtualises the HAN interface of the smart meter. It allows the prosumer real-time access to the data measured by the smart meter and available on the HAN interface. This solution can enhance new services of added value to the consumer and strengthen the innovation role of the DSO, playing a central role in flexible services developed by the DSO.
