Charge and discharge characteristics of ISO15118-20 based AC and DC V2G system
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology has gained significant interest in recent years due to its potential to enable bidirectional power flow between electric vehicles (EVs) and the power grid. The choice of charger architecture plays a crucial role in the effective implementation and cost of V2G systems. In this paper, we present a comparative analysis of two different charger architectures, namely a 7 kW 220V single-phase AC V2G charger and a DC 20 kW 380 V 3-phase bidirectional charger, for V2G applications. We evaluate and compare their characteristics based on various parameters such as power conversion efficiency, charge to discharge transition time, harmonics, and cost-effectiveness. This comparison aims to provide insights into the advantages and limitations of each charger architecture to assist in informed decision-making for V2G planning and deployments.
