Grid analysis and operation optimization by using data from smart meters and smart secondary substations
In response to the increasing complexity of power distribution and the need for enhanced grid management, CEZ Distribuce (CEZd), a major Distribution System Operator (DSO) in the Czech Republic (with approx. 3.8 million supply points), is undertaking a significant rollout of smart grid technologies. This initiative is driven by the pressing need to improve grid reliability, operational efficiency, and customer service. The focus of this paper is on the innovative integration of data from smart meters and smart secondary substations to address key challenges in grid planning, operation, and maintenance and how advanced data analytics can optimize distribution system performance and support strategic decision-making.
