Wicazo Sa Review at Forty Years
Abstract: Wicazo Sa Review started in 1985, and for the past forty years the journal has followed its mission of assisting Indigenous Peoples of the Americas in taking possession of their own intellectual and creative pursuits. The journal also supports Indigenous Peoples in defining the cultural, religious, legal, and historical parameters of scholarship and creativity essential to the ongoing process of decolonization and survival in the present world. This article discusses the journal’s present initiatives and what the future holds for the journal’s impact in Indigenous scholarship and Native American/American Indian studies.
