Relevance of the properties of nuclear matter to the radii of neutron stars
A regression analysis of a neutron-star radius was performed. The optimal sets of variables that can be used to predict the neutron-star radius were determined by applying various regression model selection criteria. Uncertainty bounds on the neutron-star radius were derived based on the obtained regression functions and uncertainties of the independent variables. For the regression functions selected by the Akaike information criterion, the dependence of the stellar matter pressure evaluated at the saturation density was analyzed as a function of the neutron-star mass and radius.
