Activos personales y comunitarios en población trabajadora sexual de una ciudad de Colombia: cartografía social

Introduction: Sex workers face discrimination, stigma, inadequate working conditions, economic insecurity, and various forms of violence. These realities have prompted national and international reflection, as well as legislative guidelines aimed at protecting this population. Objective: To analyze the personal and community assets of sex workers in a city in Colombia. Method: Qualitative study with thematic content analysis from a socio-critical perspective. Priority was given to the daily lives and experiences of the participants through social mapping, in order to articulate the subjectivity of women with their territory from individual, collective, and political dimensions. Twenty-six participants were selected through snowball sampling. Data collection and analysis were carried out concurrently, following the principles of qualitative research. To identify assets, digital mapping was combined with social mapping; the analysis was performed using ATLAS.ti version 9 software. Results: Fifteen territorial factors were georeferenced, including physical, economic, and sociocultural resources. Home, housing, and children were recognized as influential assets, while clients represented intermediate assets associated with economic income. Fear of the police, inadequate nutrition, and limited access to health services were recognized as critical factors. Conclusions: The sex worker population has assets that strengthen their resilience, mainly family, children, and support networks. The territories they inhabit are simultaneously spaces of protection and risk, which requires contextualized support actions and the formulation of inclusive public policies.
