An Overview of Thrusters Faults in Dynamic Positioning Systems*
Fault diagnosis for dynamic positioning vessels is vital for maritime safety and operational efficiency. The reliability of the dynamic positioning system is crucial for the safe and precise operations for which this system is used. However, over time, these systems degrade, compromising accuracy and performance. This issue has been investigated by several authors over the past years. After reviewing the works published in the literature, this article aims to provide an overview of fault detection and fault-tolerant control for dynamic positioning systems, with a focus on thrusters faults, and to explore potential future research directions.
