The article examines the interpretations of the emotion “antipathy” in Russian and German, defines its mental representation – the emotional concept, describes the conceptual component of the emotional concept ANTIPATHY/ABNEIGUNG represented by basic and additional conceptual features, and identifies their distinctive characteristics in Russian and German linguistic cultures. The scientific novelty lies in the description of the general and specific conceptual characteristics of the emotional concept ANTIPATHY in Russian and German linguistic cultures. The research found that the basic conceptual features of antipathy “negative subjective reaction to external stimuli” / “negative subjektive Reaktion auf externe Reize”; “disgust associated with physiological manifestations” / “Ekel mit körperlichen Erscheinungen”; “dislike, aversion, repelling people” / “der entfremdete Widerwille” coincide in Russian and German linguistic cultures. Distinctive features include the conceptual feature “malevolent attitude bordering on hostility”, which is basic in Russian linguistic culture, and additional in German linguistic culture. In Russian linguistic culture, antipathy reflects the rational nature of human interaction with the surrounding world. In German, there is a tendency for the intensive development of antipathy towards hatred of terrifying actions.
