Unraveling the interconnectedness of trauma-related common mental disorders in Somali refugees: a network analysis
These findings highlight the interconnected nature of CMDs among Somali refugees and provide initial insights for future research aiming to develop transdiagnostic, symptom-focused interventions. Central symptoms such as emotional detachment, hyperarousal, and culturally specific physical expressions of distress, like feeling frozen, emerge as salient features that may warrant further investigation in future research on trauma-informed, culturally grounded care approaches. Incorporating central symptoms into future research on screening tools and task-shifted care models may offer avenues to explore enhanced early identification and improved resource allocation.
