DOCUMENTO CURRICULAR DO ESTADO DO PARÁ (DCEPA) DO ENSINO MÉDIO
The Pará State Curriculum Document (DCEPA), which follows the guidelines of the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC), claims to be based on two authors, one of whom is Paulo Freire. As the BNCC is a guiding document for the curriculum and its composition is based on competencies and skills, the DCEPA could not be any different. Thus, we have the following problematization: Can Freire be one of the basic references of a curriculum document, structured in competencies and skills, guiding the “New” High School? We carried out a critical analysis of the DCEPA, with the aim of verifying whether this is a possible relationship. The result is that the aim of developing competences is for the subject to learn how to learn to adapt to market demands and neoliberal dictates, a concept that is antagonistic to Freire's pedagogy of liberation. This paradox unfolds in a series of voracious incongruities that are useful to capitalism and neoliberal ideals.
