EFFECTIVENESS OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING IN GRAMMATICAL MASTERY AT ELEVENTH GRADE IN TULUNGAGUNG
English is a language that has a complex language structure, where we are not only required to memorize as much vocabulary as possible but also pay attention to the grammar structure. Therefore, teachers are required to provide interactive and effective teaching in their classrooms. In this study, researchers used the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning method to determine the effectiveness of this learning method in learning English, especially for grammar material, namely the present perfect tense. Researchers used quantitative research methods with a pre-experimental research design with the type of one-group pre-test and post-test. The sampling technique used by researchers is purposive sampling by taking class 11B as the research sample. The research instrument was 20 pre-test and post-test questions and a personal experience story as CTL-based learning media. The data analysis test uses the Wilcoxon test because the data is not normally distributed after the normality test. Based on the results of data calculations, the use of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning methods shows effectiveness, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon test, which raises the results to <001, where the number is below the significant value of 0.05.
