DAMPAK KOMUNIKASI MEDIA SOSIAL TERHADAP PERSEPSI BODY IMAGE MAHASISWA YAYASAN SAAN MUSTOPA CENTAR

The development of social media has changed the way individuals perceive their self-image, including body image. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok often showcase unrealistic beauty standards, influencing how students perceive their own appearance. This study aims to investigate how social media impacts the body image of students at the Saan Mustopa Centar Foundation. Through a qualitative phenomenological approach and in-depth interviews with 10 students, it was found that social media plays a significant role in shaping body perception. Most informants experienced social pressure, feelings of inferiority, and anxiety due to social comparisons on social media. While some felt motivated to live healthily, the majority were psychologically affected. This study emphasizes the importance of digital literacy and self-acceptance education to help students build a healthy self-image.
