Using smart meters data to optimize vertical collective connection infrastructure (CCI)
With the arrival of new uses (Heat Pumps, 5G antennas, Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI)) and the retrocession of 800,000 vertical CCI1 to Enedis2 in 2021, the Low Voltage (LV < 36 kVA) for collective installations is experiencing significant growth in demand, sometimes requiring heavy reinforcement work on the CCI. In this context, Enedis’ Engineering Department has made two main observations: the company has no sizing tool that allows for the simple and consistent processing of an individual branch connection request across the 25 regional departments, and the sizing rules for the vertical CCI are based on specifications that use subscribed power levels. Thus, the solution considered by Enedis aims to address two challenges: the simplification and standardization of practices within the company, and a major innovation challenge that proposes to revisit the sizing rules of the vertical CCI by using real data from smart metering chains. The article will then focus on the data model, the web application developed and the significant benefits from the use of real data from smart metering chains.
