E-REDES fosters the "Circular Economy Action Plan" with the E-REDONDO project

E-REDES and EDP Redes Spain are Distribution System Operators (DSO) of the EDP Group in Portugal and Spain, respectively. Over the last few years, both companies have participated in several individual projects intending to integrate more circular solutions into their business. However, they needed a strategy that included the entire value chain to respond to the global objective of consuming more sustainably and the specific objectives set by the EDP Group. With the E-REDONDO project, the companies seek to guarantee a holistic view of the circular economy in their business. The project's first phase, E-REDONDO 1.0, just covered E-REDES - the leading Portuguese DSO – and it was a transformative 6-month initiative in 2023 aimed at enhancing the circularity of network assets. The primary outcomes from the internal point of view were the circular diagnosis of some assets and the review of asset reuse, repair and reconditioning processes. From the external point of view, it was the assessment of the maturity of circular supplies. E-REDONDO 2.0, launched in 2024, builds on this foundation and expands to the EDP Group's DSO in the Iberian Peninsula. Engaging over 40 employees, this ongoing initiative is set to run until 2026, and it has already demonstrated promising results.
