One of the advanced automation solutions ("Self Healing”) of MV electric distribution network of the city of Belgrade
At the beginning of this century, the concept of automation of the MV distribution network was adopted for the area of the city of Belgrade, which was the initial basis for further intensive automation of the MV distribution network. First, the decentralized concept of the automation of the MV distribution network was applied, where many MV/LV substations optimal from the point of view of the automation of the MV distribution network in the narrower part of the city were completely reconstructed through the installation of automated MV switchyard of the type “Ring Main Unit” (RMU), which were originally integrated into the SCADA system via the newly built radio-system or GSM system. There is a need to significantly improve the confirmed concept in practice with a new concept that will lead to the application of advanced automation of the MV distribution network (“Self Healing”). The realized solution of advanced automation of the MV network significantly raised the degree of network automation, but also drastically reduced the restoration time of parts of the MV distribution network affected by failure or outage to a value below the projected 30 seconds. The paper presents and analyses real cases of the implemented solution of advanced automation of the MV distribution network.
