A study on improving HIF detection accuracy through automated setting based on power data

Unlike in the past, the types of loads that consume power have diversified with the advancement of science and technology. The structure of the existing electricity market was a one-way structure from the generation of electricity to the sale. However, the paradigm is changing to a free markets competition system so that various power sources can be introduced and businesses can sell them efficiently. This change aims to secure flexibility and resilience in grid operation, maximize operational efficiency, and establish a high-quality power supply system. In order to safely operate this changing system, changes in the system operation method are also necessary. Especially in the case of general system fault, it is possible to sufficiently detect a fault and prevent the spread of fault through existing operating methods and protection cooperation methods. However, as the diversity of distribution systems increases, the types of faults that are difficult to cope with using existing operating methods are also increasing. This paper describes a method for detecting high impedance fault, which are uncommon faults in a system. In particular, this paper explains how to improve the accuracy of fault detection by having device reflect the real-time environment based on power data.
