Innovation and pilots as important steps for the transition of the electricity distribution grid

This paper describes the pilots and innovations of the Norwegian Research Centre for Intelligent Electricity Distribution (CINELDI), including one example of a pilot, Flexible power grid by dynamic operation. The paper describes innovations from both research and pilots in CINELDI, in numbers and examples. The paper also explains the use of check lists for innovation to aid the Distribution System Operators (DSOs) to take the innovations properly into use. Pilot scalability/replicability is also shortly discussed. In conclusion, the paper summarizes the main takeaways from the CINELDI pilot and innovation work.
