Response of Galactic Cosmic Rays to Solar Disturbances: A Study of the May 2024 Forbush Decrease with GRAPES-3 Muon Telescope

Utilizing data from the GRAPES-3 muon telescope, we have investigated the response of galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity variations to solar activity. In this study, we apply the East-West (E-W) method to separate the isotropic and anisotropic components of GCR variations for the large-scale Forbush decrease event in May 2024, thereby helping to investigate the causes of these variations.

Abstract

Utilizing data from the GRAPES-3 muon telescope, we have investigated the response of galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity variations to solar activity. In this study, we apply the East-West (E-W) method to separate the isotropic and anisotropic components of GCR variations for the large-scale Forbush decrease event in May 2024, thereby helping to investigate the causes of these variations.
